'True Detective' Season 2 Cast News: HBO Confirms Taylor Kitsch, Female Lead Still Undecided for New Season
HBO has recently confirmed that Taylor Kitsch will be playing one of the four major characters in the highly-acclaimed crime drama series, 'True Detective', which is slated for an early 2015 premiere.
The actor, who is famed for portraying the character of Tim Riggins in 'Friday Night Lights' on NBC, will be assuming the role of Paul Woodrugh - a young and handsome veteran.
Talking to AdWeek, the Canadian actor disclosed his thrill about appearing in the Emmy Award-winning drama and admitted anxiously, "[I] can't f***ing wait to hit camera."
On that note, the latest reports say that 'True Detective' will start filming the new season, set in California, in November.
During the interview, Kitsch said, "I'm really excited," adding, "I've just been prepping ... it was tough to sit a year out, keeping a finger crossed that I was going to get 'True.' It was just a showing a lot of patience on my end and turning a lot of stuff down because I wanted to be a part of it. So, I'm excited. I loved that first season of it so much. It's just unlike anything I've seen in, you know, I don't know when. And it was so grounded. It could really happen."
The 33-year-old actor also teased that 'True Detective' Season 2 will have the same feel as the first installment. He said, "It makes it more relatable. It makes these guys more real."
So far, HBO has revealed three lead actors of Nic Pizzolatto's drama, while the fourth, a female lead, remains undecided. Before confirming the name of Kitsch, HBO had announced that Colin Farrell, 38, and Vince Vaughn, 44, would be starring in 'True Detective' Season 2, which would have a total of 8 episodes.
Having cast the three male leads, it now remains to be seen which actress will be taking on the role of the female lead. According to a report by Variety, Rachel McAdams, 35, is very close to signing a deal with HBO to portray the 'True Detective' Season 2 character Sheriff Ani Bezzerides, who is known to have a troubled past as well as a pretty serious drinking/gambling problem.
Even though McAdams is currently a front-runner for the role of Sheriff Ani Bezzerides, the actress is not the only name that is being thrown around. Some other reports have speculated that Hollywood stars like Jessica Biel, 32, and Malin Ackerman, 36, are also being considered for the role.
Lastly, some reports claim that 'Mad Men' actress Elisabeth Moss, 32, is also being considered for the character in the mini series.
