'True Blood' Season 7 Spoilers: Is Eric Dead? Willa and James Cast in New Episodes / EP Brian Buckner: "It Is The Organic Direction for the Show"
If you're head is still spinning from the True Blood Season 6 finale, take a deep breath. True Blood executive producer Brian Buckner recently sat down with InsideTV to answer some of the questions burning on fans of the show.
Season 6 spoilers ahead. Read at your own risk.
Obviously the first question on everyone's mind is the status of Eric. Last time we saw him he was reading a mysterious book in the nude on top of a snow-covered mountain in Sweden. Once the Lillith charm was lifted, Eric started to burn. The episode closes with Eric's best Darth Vader "No!"
Buckner has already confirmed that Eric will return as a major character in Season 7. Does that mean he's alive?
"Well, I did not confirm that he's alive. Not that I want to create more conversation, because I don't, but to be clear, we're not saying how we're going to use him, we're simply saying that we are using him. I will say that I do long for the days when television audiences could stand to wait and enjoy the tease. But I understand we're living in a different time. I don't want to watch a show without him either."
Buckner goes on to reveal a few more Season 7 spoilers.
Where we left off in the Season 6 finale, six months removed from Warlow's death, non-carrier humans were forced to pair with healthy vampires. With Hep V rampant in vampire communities, humans would exchange their non-infected blood for protection.
"I hope our fans can appreciate this - it is the organic direction for a show that was about the relationship between vampires and humans to take. It started completely focused on one vampire-human relationship, but now we have all these relationships that we hopefully care about, and we're going to add vampires to the human relationships and humans to the vampire relationships."
Buckner said the pairings are still up for debate in the writer's room.
The True Blood producer also confirmed the Hep V virus has mutated in the vampires, causing them to be weaker and driven by a much more intense need to feed on human blood.
As for the human carriers, good luck getting a vampire to do you a favor without anything in return.
More spoilers? Sam is Mayor, Arlene buys Merlotte's and renames it Bellefleur's, Willa [Amelia Rose Blaire] and James [Luke Grimes' will both return in Season 7. As for Sarah Newlin and Niall, no plans have been cemented for their role in the new season.
