Troubled Music Star Mindy McCready Dead in Apparent Suicide
The body of music star Mindy McCready was found Sunday. According to Waren Olmstead, coroner of Cleburne County, Ark., McCready died of an apparent self-inflicted single gunshot wound. An autopsy is pending to determine the definite cause of McCready's death.
Just weeks ago Police were called to the McCready home after the apparent suicide of her husband, David Wilson. McCready's body was found on the same porch where her husband's body was found last month. McCready and Wilson have a nine-month old son Zayne.
After Wilson's death, McCready's life began to spiral out of control. She entered court-ordered rehab after her father told a judge she was abusing drugs and alcohol. Her father explained to the judge that his daughter had stopped taking care of herself and her kids. McCready's two sons, Zander and Zayne, were ordered into foster care.
McCready was interviewed by the "Today Show" last month after Wilson's death. McCready stated she had never gone through anything in her life as painful as his passing.
"I just keep telling myself that the more suffering that I go through, the greater character I'll have," she said, according to a transcript of the interview.
McCready is best known for her hit songs "Guys Do It All the Time," and "Ten Thousand Angels."
Mindy McCready was 37 years old.
