'Transformers 5' Release Date, Spoilers: Megan Fox Returning? Mark Wahlberg, Michael Bay Out of Movie Franchise
Despite the success of 'Transformers: Age of Extinction', rumor has it that director Michael Bay won't be handling the next addition to the franchise because he wants to focus on other projects. Also, Mark Wahlberg, who played Cade Yeager, has announced that he will not be reprising his role for 'Transformers 5' which is expected to hit theaters in 2016.
As for the leading lady, Megan Fox expressed her desire to return for the movie as Mikaela Banes. Fox, 28, was taken out of the cast of 'Transformers: Dark of the Moon' for developing a strained relationship with Bay, but they have since settled their differences.
On a side note, Movie Pilot reported that Bay helped Fox land the role of April O'Neil in the recently released 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' film.
"If [Bay] ever wanted me to do a cameo like assembling an autobot motorcycle in a bike shop or something like that, I would totally do it," Fox told E! News. Back in July, the actress was a bit hesitant on the possibility of a return and clarified a crossover role with LaBeouf would be interesting.
Lorenzo di Bonaventura, producer of the 'Transformer' movies, said in a press conference in Spain that they have not shaped the story for the fifth installment yet. Also, the target 2016 release might be a farfetched goal especially for a big-budget film like this, Hallels reported.
'Transformers' is indeed one of the most successful blockbuster movies ever produced, it grossed $1 billion in earnings for 'Transformers 4: Age of Extinction' alone.
