Top Christian Artists at 2014 Billboard Awards: Chris Tomlin, Alan Jackson, and More Win Awards Among Mainstream Music's Best (VIDEO)
The 2014 Billboard Music Awards aired on ABC last night but what the viewers did not get a chance to see were the winners in Christian music for top Christian song, top Christian artist and top Christian album.
Although it is unknown if the recipients of the awards were all present during the televised award show, the winners of the top Christian records and songs were listed and winners were announced.
Top Christian Song- Matthew West
The award for top Christian Song went to singer Matthew West for "Hello, My Name Is." The Nashville resident went up against Building 429's, "We Won't Be Shaken,"? Mandisa's, "Overcomer,"? Sidewalk Prophets', "Help Me Find It,"? and Chris Tomlin's, "Whom Shall I Fear (God Of Angel Armies)."
West tweeted that he would not be there but was very grateful for the honor. "Not able to attend ?@OfficialBBMAs tonight but So honored to be nominated and will be watching from the beach! Thx ?@billboard for the love!" he wrote before knowing he won.
Top Christian Artist- Chris Tomlin
For Top Christian Artist the winner was the very successful worship leader, Chris Tomlin. Tomlin who has sold nearly 30 million records throughout his career went up against Mandisa?, Skillet?, TobyMac,? and West.
Top Christian Album- Alan Jackson
Finally in the Christian genre the award for Top Christian album went to popular country music artist Alan Jackson. Jackson won Top Christian Album for his Precious Memories: Volume II, released in March 2013 as a follow-up to his 2006 release, Precious Memories. Precious Memories: Volume II went up against albums from Skillet, Third Day, and Chris Tomlin, as well as a compilation album, in the category.
