Tim Tebow News: Inspires Kids at Somerset Christian School With His Faith in Jesus Christ
Tim Tebow recently made a surprise visit to Somerset Christian School where he talked to students about his faith in God.
"It's who I am. It's not a title that you have. It is not something you just try go out there and talk about it, it's something that you live out and one of my favorite quotes is 'Every day we share the Gospel, every now and then we use words,' It's just something I try to live because that's who I am," said Tebow, according to Kentucky news station WYMT.
"I think you just try to create a brighter day. Share some stories. Share a little bit about what God has done in my life and obviously some people wanna hear about football. You know you just try to uplift people and always when I come to an event like this I try to bring a good spirit and uplift people but they always uplift me more than I can them and so it's just a blessing to be here," said Tebow.
The students at the Christian school were surprised the former football athlete came to their school to speak at their fundraiser event.
"I remember that he was truly humble and I think I should try to be more like him because he is more like Christ," said student Kyhran Worley.
Like Worley, fellow student Abi Hutchinson was also inspired by Tebow's speech and beliefs.
"You can't be afraid to speak out and stand out is really what his testimony is all about, that he is not afraid and that is what I will take away from it," said Hutchinson.
Somerset Christian School Principal John Hale also shared his thoughts on Tebow coming to his school Tuesday.
"He is powerful and it's powerful for our students to be able see someone of his stature to share his faith and will do it forcefully," said Principal Hale.
The former New York Jets and Denver Broncos athlete was released by the New England Patriots during the 2013 NFL preseason and did not find a new squad during the regular season. Tebow signed a multi-year contract with ESPN to work for the SEC Network, which will debut in August 2014. Tebow has played three seasons in the NFL, his best coming with Broncos in 2011, when he threw for 1,729 yards and 12 touchdowns.
