Tim Howard Drug Tested After Record-Breaking Performance vs Belgium at World Cup 2014 (VIDEO)
Christian USA national team goalie Tim Howard has revealed in a new interview that after his brilliant performance against Belgium, he was tested for performance enhancing drugs.
"Went and did drug testing, and answered a few text messages...Yeah, they put a follower on you and you have to go straight into the doping control room " said Howard to radio host Dan Patrick on the Dan Patrick Show. "Which is probably better because, normally when you win, it sucks because you can't celebrate with your teammates, but yesterday was hard."
Howard set a record for having the most saves (16) in a World Cup game on Tuesday at the Arena Fonte Nova in Salvador, Brazil.
Unfortunately, Howard and his team lost to Belgium by 2-1 in extra time on June 1 after Belgium's Kevin De Bruyne and Romelu Lukaku each scored a goal in extra time to help their team progress to the Quarter-Finals of the 2014 World Cup.
Ironically, Howard's graduation yearbook photo from North Brunswick Township High School in 1997 was apparently leaked with the following prophetic message:
"It will take a nation of millions to hold me back, said Howard in yearbook photo (possibly to rap group Public Enemies' second album titled It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back released in 1988)," according to Reddit.
"It's heartbreaking, I don't think we could have given any more. We left it all out there. We got beaten by a really good team. They took their chances well. It's heartache, it hurts. But hats off to Belgium, they were fantastic," said Howard to reporters after the game on Tuesday.
In a previous interview, Howard expressed his thoughts about his trust and faith in Jesus Christ.
"Today, I am blessed to be living a dream. And yet, if it all went away tomorrow, I know I would still have peace. That probably sounds crazy to most people, but that's the kind of peace Christ gives. It is rooted in His love, and it surpasses all understanding," said Howard in his testimony to the CRU Ministries' organization Athletes in Action in 2006. "You can experience this same sense of love and peace, too. All you have to do is ask for it."
