Tiger Woods News: Sean Foley No Longer Coach for Golf Star
Legendary golfer Tiger Woods has just parted ways with his coach of four years, Sean Foley. An official statement on Woods' website announced the news Monday, August 25. The world's most popular golfer has not disclosed any reason behind their separation, but stated that he is thankful for all of Foley's help and the friendship they've shared over the years.
Woods also wished his now former coach all the best and acknowledged him as "one of the outstanding coaches in golf" today.
The golf superstar started working with Foley during the 2010 PGA Championship, and has won eight total championships with him as coach, including five tournaments in 2013. Woods also added that he believed it is the best time to end his professional relationship with Foley as he is not set to play in a tournament until the Isleworth, Orlando World Challenge event.
Additionally, the legendary golfer said he is in no rush to hire another coach.
Before Foley, Woods worked with Butch Harmon and Hank Haney. Collectively, he won 14 majors during his working relationship with the aforementioned duo.
Currently, Woods is recuperating from a back injury he incurred way back in March, which cost him both the Masters and the US Open. Also, the injury has consequently eliminated him as a factor for the PGA Championships as well as the British Open.
In addition to this, the 38-year-old golfer reportedly fell into a bunker at Firestone Country Club, where he also injured his back. Due to this, Woods was forced to withdraw during the final round of the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational, and will not be playing for another month or two.
