'Thor 3' Release Date, Rumors: Tom Hiddleston Teases About Loki’s Wife in Upcoming 'Thor: Ragnarok' Film
The flood of rumors and speculations regarding the forthcoming Marvel superhero movies that have been posted on the Internet lately have subsided to some extent following the announcement of Marvel's Phase Three slate.
Despite Marvel confirming 'Thor: Ragnarok', it is unlikely that fans as well as comic aficionados will stop looking for spoilers about what they can expect from the third film in the series.
Nevertheless, Comic Book Movie has worked hard to discover an earlier interview featuring Tom Hiddleston, where he possibly hinted that the franchise would be following the 'Ragnarok' plot. During the interview, which dates back to a press tour for 'Thor: The Dark World', Tom shared his views about where the movie is headed.
Referring to the storyline in the comic book regarding 'Ragnarok', Tom had then said, "There's obviously no script or anything. When I read the comic books, I thought it was an interesting way to go."
Following Marvel's confirmation, fans are speculating about another thing that the actor noted and which may possibly occur in the third movie.
During the interview, Tom shared, "In the myth, he has a wife called Sigyn who protects him from a poison serpent who is dripping venom into his mouth. And she has a bowl over his mouth and of course the bowl keeps filling up and she has to empty it, and so his damnation could be interesting." The actor further said, "I don't know... I mean, Loki is a character who's existed in popular consciousness for 3,000 years, so there are many, many iterations I could explore... It's just a question of whether audiences would want to see him again."
Meanwhile, fans of Hiddleston and 'Thor' have one thing in common - they would like to see more of Loki in the upcoming movie. While a report by Cinema Blend also agrees with this, it also offered its views regarding seeing Sigyn in 'Ragnarok'.
In fact, Sigyn may be a vital person in Loki's life who leads him to 'Ragnarok', also known as the destruction of Gods. This happens when Asgard falls and disintegrates into the ground. While she too is an important character, the writers will closely adhere to the Norse mythology with a view to pull this story off. The writers may require doing a complete reversal on this one, considering the manner in which 'Thor 2' ended, Loki might just be sitting in the all-powerful throne.
'Thor: Ragnarok' launches in theaters on July 28, 2017.
