‘Thor 3’ Plot Rumors: Will Loki Die? Fall of Asgard- Ragnarok Storyline

Speculation from Movie Pilot reveals that the third 'Thor' movie may follow the Ragnarok storyline, which leads to the destruction of Asgard and to Loki's death.

The second movie left off with Thor leaving Asgard after refusing his father Odin's offer to be the next ruler of Asgard. It was revealed at the end that the Odin sitting on the throne is actually Loki, his adoptive brother in disguise.

Key members of the production team have been dropping hints about using the Ragnarok storyline during interviews and fan conventions. In the comic book, as well as in the actual Norse mythology the comics are based on, Ragnarok refers to the apocalyptic event that brings Asgard to its end.

The story arc involves, not only the death of the inhabitants of the Norse god's world, but the ultimate demise of Loki, who actually helped orchestrate the event.

Fire god Sutur is rumored to also appear alongside Loki. Together, they raise an army to battle against Thor and the soldiers of Asgard.

Aside from the villains, new superhero allies may also appear in the franchise, including Beta Ray Bill and Valkyrie. Bill is the only character in the Marvel universe deemed worthy to carry Thor's hammer, Mjolnir.

Valkyrie leads a group of warrior goddesses who chooses who among the fallen followers of the Asgardian gods deserve to be taken to the land of the honored dead, Valhalla.

However, Marvel has yet to officially confirm these new additions, or even a release date for the film.

Meanwhile, the company announced that Craig Kyle and Christopher Yost will be scriptwriting for the film, while Kevin Feige returns as the producer. There is no news yet for the director of 'Thor 3'.

Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston will be reprising their roles as Thor and Loki, respectively. It is still uncertain whether Natalie Portman will return as Dr. Jane Foster, Thor's love interest.

On a side note, Hiddleston has recently signed on to star as the lead in 'Skull Island', the prequel for the 'King Kong' series of films.
