‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: Jill Farren Phelps Threatened to be Fired for Cutting Y&R Favorite Characters

CBS's daily soap opera, The Young and the Restless, is absolutely a fan favorite, evident by the number of Daytime Emmy awards it bagged last year. Unfortunately, the show has been experiencing some turmoil since Michael Muhney and others' disappearance on the show is taking a toll on its viewer share ratings.

In the recently concluded 41st Annual Daytime Emmy Awards, The Young and the Restless won six awards such as Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series (Amelia Heinle), Outstanding Drama Series Writing Team, Outstanding Younger Actress in a Drama Series (Hunter King), Outstanding Special Class Special, Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series (Billy Miller), and Outstanding Drama Series. Y&R was also nominated in 26 other categories together with other primetime drama like Days of Our Lives and Venice the Series.

Celebrity Dirty Laundry feared that the removal of Michael Muhney would greatly affect the show's appeal, especially that the Daytime Emmy awards are based on each year's episodes. Speculation mentioned that if executive producer Jill Farren Phelps will not be able to revive the momentum either by reinstating Muhney and other actors, or by coming up with a fresh story, it is likely that the show will be defunct.

Meanwhile on the set of Y&R, Dylan McAvoy and Paul William both survived their surgeries, relieving fans' concerned over additional major character deaths. Now that Dylan knows who his biological father is, will there be any chance of Paul rekindling romance with Nikki Newman? This certainly brings up another love triangle between Nikki, Paul, and his wife Christine who has been very jealous of the two.

The Young and the Restless airs daily on CBS. Watch Y&R's June 24 episode in its entirety below:
