The Young and the Restless Spoilers, Cast News: Shemar Moore Returning to Daytime Soap, Fans Rally to Bring Back Michael Muhney

For the first time in nearly a decade, "Criminal Minds' star Shemar Moore is returning to "The Young and the Restless'; CBS made the announcement on Wednesday. Moore is set to guest star in a special two-day appearance on September 10 and 11.

"I am excited about returning to "The Young and the Restless' as a special guest. This is where I got my start, and I am looking forward to reuniting with my soap opera family," said Moore.

Moore will be making his return to the series on which he was a regular for 11 years and will reprise his role as Malcolm Winters. According to CBS, Malcolm returns to Genoa City "after leaving town years before without a proper goodbye. Now, he's back for an important visit with the Winters family to make amends and catch up on everything he's missed."

Meanwhile, fans are rallying for the return of Michael Muhney's character, Adam Newman, to the show. Muhney's last appearance on the show was on Jan. 30, and some fans are still livid over the incident that led to Muhney's dismissal. In Dec. 2013, TMZ reported that the actor was fired from the show after Hunter King allegedly accused him of sexual harassment.

Enstars is reporting that "The Young and the Restless' executives are still looking for Muhney's replacement, given the fact that his character is important to the show's current story line. However, fans are insisting that Muhney should be brought back as they feel "no one else" will be able to play the role as well as he does.

"The Young and the Restless' airs Monday through Friday at 12:30pm on CBS.
