The Young and the Restless Cast Rumors, Spoilers: Michael Muhney and Billy Miller to Return to Show?
The Young and the Restless has turned out to not just be a soap opera but also a real-life controversy with Jill Phelps and Michael Muhney all under fire for various reasons surrounding the show.
Fans are still in a rage over the controversy currently overshadowing the show, and the issue just seems not to be able to go away.
Muhney was fired from the Y&R earlier this year over alleged sexual harassment against co-actor Hunter King (Newman). The accusation involved groping, which led to Muhney's character's immediate expulsion.
Muhney's sudden exit enraged fans who threatened to boycott the show if the actor was not reinstated to his lead male character. Over the course of five months, Y&R's ratings have constantly plummeted losing millions of viewers, according to Highlight Hollywood.
Executive Producer Phelps meanwhile has said she is keen on bringing in new talent: "The soap is actively searching for an actor to succeed Michael Muhney in the role, and in early April contenders will be considered," CBS Soaps in Depth reported.
Unfortunately, with the issue between Phelps and the 38-year-old Muhney stil ongoing, critics are expecting a significant boycott from fans. Some are even saying that Phelps could face a serious threat to her own job of the series is unable to get itself back on track.
Billy Miller, who played Billy Abbott, was also previously let go, together with Michelle Stafford, who handed in her resignation as Phyllis. The 48-year-old actress claimed that her voluntary exit was because of her dissatisfaction about the role, but rumors have attempted to jump on the wider situation and there have been rumors that there could even have been a rift between her and Phelps as well.
Highlight Hollywood has reported that Phelps recently spoke to a former Y&R cast and "begged" them to come back on the show again. Speculation is pointing to that person either being Billy Miller or amazingly Michael Muhney. Although nothing has been confirmed at this stage.
In a Twitter post by Muhney on April 28, he said, "Lotta good people in this world. I'm thankful each and every day for the overwhelming love."
