Season 1 of NBC's newest reality competition series The Winner Is wrapped up with the finale episode Thursday night.

So who is the winner of $1 million? Even before host Nick Lachey announced the finale winner, you knew it was going to be Katie Ohh. She's consistently delivered stunning performances throughout the shows inaugural season and just seemed like a shoe in for the prize.

That's no slight to Sharde Bivans either. The girl definitely has pipes but there can only be one winner on The Winner Is...

As if the announcement wasn't painful enough to watch on TV, The Winner Is... has a gimmick that many singing competitions don't. Right before the winner is named, both contestants have the option of choosing $200,000 over the chance of winning the full $1 million.

With three seconds to decide, neither Sharde nor Katie settled. That means one of them would be heading home empty-handed. The crowd groaned.

The Winner Is... Season 1 finale attracted 1.5 million viewers. The finale saw a 40% increase since its August 1 show.
