'The Walking Dead' comic-book as well as television show fans will be delight to know that the showrunners have officially cast a new actor to portray one of their favorite characters from the source material written by Robert Kirkman in the sixth season of the hit zombie television drama on AMC.

IB Times reports that the showrunners of 'The Walking Dead' have cast Corey Hawkins, the star of the upcoming NWA biopic 'Straight Outta Compton,' for a recurring role in the sixth season of the zombie television drama. In fact, the producers of the television series have also released an image of Hawkins during production of 'The Walking Dead' Season 6.

'The Walking Dead' comic books fans will possibly identify Hawkins' clothes and makeup as those of the character Heath in the comic-book. While nothing is known about what the show creators have planned for the new character, comic-book counterpart of Health has been in existence for quite some time.

In the comic books, Heath is a resident of the Alexandria Safe-Zone and he is a supply runner for the town in partnership with Glenn (Steven Yeun). Hence, it would seem right for Heath to continue to be a supply runner even in the television series, as fans saw the end of 'The Walking Dead' Season 5 that the number of the supply team in Alexandria dwindling significantly, leaving Glenn as the only real runner left for the whole town.

According to CinemaBlend, Hawkins is the first new member to be added cast of 'The Walking Dead' cast. Nevertheless, it is likely that he will not be the only one to join Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and his gang of survivors. A casting notice released by the producers of the show in May teased the arrivals of both Heath and another new character, code-named "Tucker." However, it is anyone's guess whether Tucker will also be one of the familiar comic-book characters. Meanwhile, E Online reported that casting directors are looking for "a hard-worker tough guy who values fairness."

'The Walking Dead' Season 6 will premiere on AMC in October. In the meantime, fans of the show can explore some of the news as well as teasers related to the spinoff of the show, 'Fear the Walking Dead.'
