‘Walking Dead’ Season 5 Premiere Date, Spoilers: AMC Airs Series Marathon, Two New Trailers
'The Walking Dead' premieres its fifth season on Sunday with the intention to fill TV sets full of zombie moments, gruesome deaths, and the shrieks of the survivors.
Series executive producer Gale Anne Hurd revealed some key plot points for the upcoming season via Entertainment Weekly. She said the series showcases a lot of scenes set in rural areas, but the group will not be there for long.
"Now with the group embarking on a mission, they have to re-enter what we call the City of the Dead," she said, "There are many cities of the dead that they'll have to encounter to complete their mission."
Hurd even added that the challenges for the protagonists will be even tougher this season as they have to deal with human antagonists lurking around and hiding.
'The Walking Dead' cast and creators also celebrated Season 5 with a party held at Universal Studios on Oct. 2. The celebration also kicked off with a premiere screening at the AMC Universal Citywalk theater, right before heading to the horror theme park.
Since the fifth season premiere is approaching, AMC offered a replay of all previous seasons as a refresher. The Zombie Apocalypse Week Marathon, which featured seasons one and two first, started on Monday and will continue until Friday at 7:00 pm ET every day.
Then on Saturday at noon, episodes from seasons three and four will continue right up until the season five premiere on Sunday.
Meanwhile, two brand new trailers for 'The Walking Dead' Season 5, which are set to music from the band U2, were released by AMC. The first trailer called "Together" and the second trailer called "Will For Survival" are set to U2's new song "The Troubles," which features Lykke Li.
'The Walking Dead' Season 5 premiere episode entitled "No Sanctuary" airs on Sunday at 9:00 pm ET on AMC.
