'The Voice' Season 6 Contestant Speaks Out on Microphone Malfunction

Live television is full of potential missteps, and NBC's hit show "The Voice" succumbed to one of those missteps. On Monday's live show, the microphone cut out while Kristen Merlin was singing. Audiences watching on television could not hear her, and the judges could only hear her a tiny bit. For the contestants feelings on the subject, read on.

Kristen Merlin recently sat down for an interview with TV Guide, where she discussed how difficult it was to have her microphone cut out in the middle of her song. In such a high-pressure situation, where every song counts, Merlin was understandably upset when something went wrong that was completely out of her control.

"I wanted to run off stage and cry," Merlin said.

The contestant went on to say how she managed to continue and not give in to that desire to run away and cry.

"I freaked out a little bit and just tried to go through: 'What's the problem? Is it my in ear? I took that out. No, it's the mic? OK, just keep going, maybe it will come back. Just keep going with it.' I was having a great time anyways and I was going to go down swinging," she explained.

Has "The Voice" fixed their technical problems? To find out, check out "The Voice" tonight at 8/7c on NBC.
