‘The Voice’ 2016 Knockouts Recap, Spoilers (USA Edition): Three Artists Advance To Live Shows?
Three artists made it to the live shows in the most recent episode of "The Voice."
The successful contestants consisted of an Edison native who gave up his studies to pursue a career in the music industry, a soulful powerhouse and a "dirty-voiced" country singer.
Of all the coaches, only Blake Shelton did not use his "save" in the knockout rounds, which narrowed down the field from 32 to 20. Unusually quiet in the previous episode, Shelton seemed to have made an easy decision when he chose Adam Wakefield over Peyton Parker.
Artists Miley Cyrus and Christina Aguilera also had a moment discussing their ensembles during rehearsals, wherein Christina wisecracked: "this is why the show needs two women."
During the rehearsals for the Adam Wakefield vs. Peyton Parker knockouts, Miley advised Peyton to choose a song that would give her more opportunities to showcase her range as an artist. In the actual competition, it was pretty obvious that her voice cracked when she tried to reach a high register. On the other hand, Adam was able to consistently hit all kinds of notes on stage and proved himself as one of Blake's best picks.
Meanwhile, Nick Haeglin's falsetto shtick did not serve him well when he competed against Moushumi, who, although fell short of that "one big note" anticipated by all the four coaches, won over him. Towards the end of that segment, Pharell described Moushumi as a "rare package" and decided to pick her for his team.
The showdown between Maya Smith and Tamar Davis started off slowly and both did well, but Cristina had to choose the one that impressed her to the point of shaking her head in disbelief. Tamar, who took a Sam Smith classic, "murdered" her piece exceptionally and was classified by Blake as a "timeless" singer.
The knockouts continue next Monday, April 4, on NBC.
