'The Vampire Diaries' Season 6 Spoilers: Last Season Ever? No More Doppelgangers?
Merely a month into its seasonal break, and the blockbuster bloodsucker TV series 'The Vampire Diaries' has already announced its Season 6 premiere date. Show-runner Julia Plec revealed that the TV series' sixth and rumored final season will officially air on October 2 on the CW Network.
As presumed, the show's main trio, Paul Wesley (Stefan Salvatore), Nina Dobrev (Elena Gilbert), and Ian Somerhalder (Damon Salvatore) will still be around for the next season. The show's producers, however, have not yet revealed the number of episodes that the upcoming season will cover.
Plec reveals that this might be the only season where actress Dobrev will exclusively be playing a single character, as her character's doppelgangers were put to an end in the previous season. When asked, however, if one of the doppelgangers, Katherine Pierce, will ever appear on the series again, the producer was quick to say 'never say never'.
The producer also divulged that a set of new characters will be introduced in the series' new chapter. Among the fresh faces are Ivy (to be played by Emily Chang), Kai (Chris Wood), Sarah (played by Gabrielle Walsh), Tripp (by Colin Ferguson), Jo (to be played by Jodi Lyn O'Keefe), and Liam (will be played by Marco James).
Season 5's recurring guest character Enzo (portrayed by Michael Malarkey) will be a regular in the upcoming season, as confirmed by the show's producer.
In line with the series' traditional turn-of-events, Plec warned that a lot of changes are to be expected in the forthcoming episodes. Main character Matt (Zach Roerig), for example, is set to find new love in a still unnamed character; while Caroline Forbes (Candice Accola) is expected to pursue the love of her life which is expected to cause friction within the character's circle.
Although the upcoming season has been rumored to be the last 'Vampire Diaries' season, following speculation that Nina Dobrev intends to leave the show, Plec affirmed that more seasons cannot be ruled out yet.
