‘The Vampire Diaries’ Season 6 Spoilers: Caroline Dark Side Revealed; Nina Dobrev, Ian Somerhalder Confusion

The Vampire Diaries Season 6 opens up new possibilities of personal entanglements and the future of characters that came back from the Other Side.

Executive Producer Caroline Dries revealed that the upcoming new season might see a brewing tension between Caroline and Elena concerning their shared love for Stefan.

In a discussion with Alloy Entertainment, Dries laid down what fans can expect on Season 6, especially that Caroline is suffering from confusion and helplessness brought by Stefan's death.

"Her feelings for Stefan are friend feelings.  I personally feel like she's not quite sure what she's feeling.  It's all types of confusing.  Lots of grey area:  Stefan is her friend.  Elena loved Stefan.  Elena's her best friend.  Kind of a no-fly zone, which is why I think that if she has had any more-than-friend feelings she's pushed them away or convinced herself otherwise," Dries told the Time Warner subsidiary.

As a result of Season 5's dark forces battle, characters like Stefan and Caroline are presumed to go under the radar.

TV Line quoted Dries saying, "Any time we turn a character dark it's fun because it's a change of pace for the writers, actors and viewers.  It'd be interesting to see a darker Caroline but we would only go down that road if it felt 100 percent earned."

In other news, speculation about Nina Dobrev and Michael Trevino's possible relationship are spreading.

During the premiere of The Normal Heart, Glee actress Jenna Ushkowitz, Trevino's ex-girlfriend, told the media that she has already broke up with the actor after their three-year relationship, reported Celebrity Dirty Laundry.

No confirmations on Dobrev's love life have surfaced yet, but fans are speculating that the 25-year-old Burlagarian-Canadia actress is torn between her ex-boyfriend, Somerhalder, and the new prospect, Trevino.
