‘The Vampire Diaries’ Season 6 Release Date: More Heartbreak for Elena

With less than two month remaining until October 2 and premiere of 'The Vampire Diaries' Season 6, fans are still looking for more spoilers about what to expect when the hit TV series returns.

Reports have been claiming that the upcoming installment involves a "coping-mechanism" for main star Elena, played by Nina Dobrev. Apparently, Elena will face more devastation blows to her heart as the supernatural beings that she has become close too will begin to fade away from her life.

In the Season 5 finale, fans learned that bad boy vampire Damon Salvatore and powerful witch Bonnie Bennett have 'died' when a supernatural purgatory called 'the other side' had collapsed before them.

Beyond that, many cast members for the sixth season have already been confirmed, Alaric Saltzman (Matthew Davis), back from the dead as an Original Vampire; Damon Salvatore partner-in-crime Lorenzo aka "Enzo" (Michael Malarkey); Mystic Falls newcomer villain, Trip (Colin Ferguson); and a shady young woman called Sarah (Gabrielle Walsh).

Matt Donovan (Zach Roerig) has been rumored to be finding a new flame in a yet-unnamed character, also Caroline Forbes (Candice Accola) is said to be taking a leap in her suppressed feelings for Stefan Salvatore (Paul Wesley) while other reports say she just might be falling in love with the regular villain, Enzo instead; and main character Elena will be employed as an intern at the Whitmore Medical Center.

'The Vampire Diaries' Season 6 airs Thursdays at 8 pm starting October 2 on CW.
