Fans of The Vampire Diaries should prepare themselves for the premiere episode of Season 6, seeing as it will be a major tearjerker. The series is set to return to CW in the Fall.

Director Jeffrey hunt announced on Twitter that "#TVD fans episode 601 is going to take you on an emotional roller coaster you may not be ready for. Suggest you start preparing now."

Reports claim a significant time lapse between Season 5 and Season 6, however discouraging, this will help heal the broken hearts of the characters during their journey back to their homes.

There is also speculation that Dobrev's character may die, which was strongly insinuated by the actress' statement to Entertainment Weekly, "She's really blossomed into this strong woman since the show began, so I'm excited to see her hopefully have a departure and a closure from this world. Hopefully that means she'll get everything she ever wanted, which was really just a family, and stability, and love, and her friends, and everyone's safety," she said.

While interviewing for BuzzFeed, actress Nina Dobrev gave this advice for her character Elena, "Run. Like the wind. Get the [expletive] out of that town."

Additionally, Executive producer Caroline Dries told Alloy Entertainment that the anti-magic boundary spell will still exist in the next season:

"As the story unfolds we'll see the effects exile has had on everyone and see that everyone is handling it (and the loss of their loved ones) differently and personal journeys will form," she stated.
