'The Vampire Diaries' returns on the CW in a brand new season, where a new villain debuts in order to wreak havoc for Elena and company in the Season 6 premiere.

In the newest episode titled "I'll Remember," Elena will be facing a new threat while attending Whitmore College, as she attempts to undo the spell that was cast by the Travelers last season.

"He is just like a crazy person and he's super-fun to write and the actor's name is Chris Wood ... He's very charismatic and charming and psychotic and likable and unlikable in all the right ways, you get to meet him in a few episodes and he's gonna stick around for a while, hopefully," said series Executive producer Caroline Dries to Hit Fix.

Meanwhile, Elena is still coping from the disappearance of Damon and Bonnie, since the Season 5 finale that aired on May 15, 2014.

"It's important to her, like the town, it's more of a symbolic thing for her and less of a plot-drive, if that makes sense," said Dries, "We were like, 'We could make this a storyline where they get a bunch of witches and they try to undo the Traveler Spell'... We've always kinda said it's like the metaphor for when you're in your second year of college and it's like, 'OK. Now I'm in college. My home is now where I go home on Thanksgiving or Christmas vacation.' It stops feeling like home after a little while and like, 'This is my life.'"

It appears Stefan and Caroline's current relationship status will be greatly affected, as the noble protagonist is trying to move on after losing his brother Damon.

"Caroline isn't going to let Stefan off the hook very easily. In fact, his determination to move on and start a new life after the loss of his brother may ultimately ruin the friendship that he's built with her over the years," said series co-devoloper Julia Plec to E! Online.

Meanwhile, Damon and Bonnie are trying to find a way to escape The Other Side in order to reunite with Elena, Stefan and the rest of their allies in the upcoming season.

'The Vampire Diaries' Season 6 airs Thursdays at 8/7c on The CW network.
