"The Vampire Diaries" returns tomorrow in a brand new episode where it appears Elena Gilbert and Stefan Salvatore are getting back together. Tomorrow's episode is called "Resident Evil," where Stefan and Elena are living together in a house. However, fans who love the former relationship between Elena and Damon can now breathe a sigh of relief because it appears Elena and Stefan appear to be in an alternate reality in the upcoming episode.

In the newest episode, Stefan (played by Paul Wesley) and Elena (played by former Degrassi: The Next Generation star Nina Dobrev) experience what life would have been if stayed together as a couple. Elena was recently dating Stefan's brother Damon (played by Dobrev's real life ex-boyfriend Ian Somerhalder). Just like in real life, the couple is no longer dating each other on the hit CW series. Wesley recently posted some photos on social media of him and Dobrev on the set of their popular series.

"Stefan and Elena Salvatore, if you're watching TVD and you're not shipping them, you're watching this show wrong," wrote Wesley via Twitter yesterday along with a photo of him and Dobrev from the "Resident Evil" episode. "Stefan and Elena Salvatore, he is freaking cooking for her, he is perfect husband. THEIR HANDS. THEIR FOREHEADS. ELENA'S SMILE. STEFAN CLOSING HIS EYES BECAUSE HE CAN'T BELIEVE SHE'S HIS," Wesley wrote.

The upcoming "Resident Evil" episode will be directed by series regular Paul Wesley. As a result, Wesley will make his debut as a director when tomorrow's episode airs. In a recent interview, Wesley reveals that Matt Donovan (played by former "One Life to Live" and "As the World Turns" star Zach Roerig) will be in a fight scene in the upcoming episode.

"There's a scene between Matt and someone else that I can't name and there's a whole sequence and it's a beautiful sequence," said Stefan's Paul Wesley to E! News regarding the upcoming episode. "It's very action-packed. I really enjoyed it."

"The Vampire Diaries" Season 5 airs Thursdays at 8/7c on The CW network. The Season finale of 'The Vampire Diaries' will air on May 15, 2014.
