Night Shift Finale Spoilers: Season 1 to End in Big Shock - Show Set for Second Season

NBC's popular series The Night Shift is coming to close next week, and it is set to go out with a bang.

Tuesday's episode, "Blood Brother," sets the stage for the thrilling finale. In the second to the last episode, the doctors and nurses on the night-shift duty at the San Antonio Memorial Hospital's emergency room had a Code Silver hostage situation.

In the Season 1 finale episode, "Save Me," the drama continues for Dr. TC Callahan (Eoin Macken), Dr. Topher Zia (Ken Leung), Dr. Jordan Alexander (Jill Flint), Dr. Landry De La Cruz (Daniella Alonso) and Dr. Paul Cummings (Robert Bailey Jr.). The events will also affect Drew (Brendan Fehr), Michael Ragosa (Freddy Rodriguez), JR Lemon (Kenny) and Krista (Jeananne Goossen).

There are also reports that TC is about to have several flashbacks, which he will try to keep under wraps so that it won't be obvious to the others. Topher, on the other hand, will be injured following a shootout with Milo.

"You thought this week was intense, East Coast? Just wait until The #NightShift season finale next Tuesday at 10/9c! Stay tuned, West Coast," the show posted on Twitter.

The Night Shift follows a team of ER surgeons as they work through the unpredictable chaos of saving lives at night.

The medical drama series premiered in May on NBC and was a surprise hit among many views. In fact, The Night Shift landed on the ninth place of the Nielsen Media Research's Top 10 list for the Prime Broadcast Network TV in the United States.

The series' season one finale is scheduled to air on July 15 at 10 p.m. on NBC.

The doctors, however, will not have much time to rest. Entertainment Weekly has confirmed that the medical drama has already been picked up for a 14-episode second season.
