‘The Mentalist’ Season 7 Spoilers: First Episode Gets Title, New Character Revealed
"The Mentalist' series creator, Bruno Heller, recently announced that Season 7 of the hit TV show will be the last in the series, and that fans should expect an installment full of action-packed episodes.
The CBS drama won't be back until 2015, but it was revealed that the first episode will be titled "Orange Blossom Ice Cream" and it will be directed by show executive producer Chris Long. The seventh and final season will commence filming on July 30.
As it stands, the first episode in season seven's plot is still unknown, but reports claim that it might revolve around the introduction of Agent Michelle Vega, played by Josie Loren. According to Thementalistfans.com, the actress had to undergo training in order to prepare for her role as an FBI agent. Loren's past work includes roles in films such as 'Make it or Break it' and '17 Again'.
Spoilers also revealed that the plot will potentially involve a love triangle. Reports are saying that Loren's character, Vega, will come between the romance of Patrick Jane (Simon Baker) and Teresa Lisbon (Robin Tunney).
It is also rumored that Agent Vega will be clashing with Patrick Jane as the two have different procedural methods as agents. While Jane is known to improvise when needed, Vega is said to be an agent who operates strictly by the book, and that she is one to seek approval from her superiors.
Though Heller did not reveal any spoilers for the series finale, he did say that the show's team wants to provide proper closure to the romance between the two characters. Reports are saying that it can go either way"”that Patrick Jane and Teresa Lisbon will either break-up, or get married.
The 13-episode season will be run as an "encore" season, "The purpose of an encore is to get people leaving the theater happy and giving them what they want and hitting your marks as strong as possible, so that will be the intention," said Heller in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.
