The Last of Us Remastered PS4 will Give PS3 Owners a Chance to Upgrade to Next-Gen at a Discount

The Last of Us PS4 was just recently announced, and PS3 owners of the game were left wondering if there would be an upgrade for those already with the game. Now rumors are circulating that an upgrade is coming, just not a free one. However, it will perhaps come at a discount for those looking to cash in on the next-gen graphics.

The Last of Us: Remastered is currently listed for $59.99 on pre-order through Amazon. Polygon reported, the European PlayStation Blog responded to a question about a discount for gamers who already own it.

"We're looking into the business model for all this," said Naughty Dog community strategist Eric Monacelli, "and will post about this once we have input from all regions."

He also revealed the final Season Pass yesterday, "Grounded." It will introduce a new difficulty mode, four new maps, and weapons among other features.

According to GameSpot, the Grounded Bundle for the PS3 will be the last DLC in the $20 season pass, and will include new features to both the single player and multiple player. It can be purchased on its own for $5.

The new difficulty is called Grounded Mode, and game developer Naughty Dog is boosting it will be the "hardest challenge" in the game.

"The AI is relentless, smart, and brutal, and survival will be near impossible," Naughty Dog said in a statement to GameSpot. Players will even get a special Trophy for the challenge, "Completed Grounded Mode."

Also included in the bundle is new guns: Specter, Double Barrel, Enforcer, and Launcher - as well as additional survivor skills. Additionally, the expansion has the Reclaimed Territories Map Pack, which has Wharf, Capitol, Coal Mine, and Water Tower levels.
