‘The Last of Us’ Movie, Cast News: Sami Raimi Set to Transpose Videogame to Big Screen Film
Popular Naughty Dog title 'The Last of Us' is headed for the big screen as Sami Raimi announced during the San Diego Comic-Con, 2014 that he will take charge and head its production.
Beyond his position of producer for the new film, the announcement also mentioned that Neil Druckmann, creator of the videogame title is set to write the movie's screen play. Clint Culpepper, President of Screen Gems (the production company responsible for the upcoming film), will step down and let Druckmann take the reins on this one.
Culpepper, who is known for his transposition of the 'Resident Evil' videogame series onto the big screen trusts that Druckmann will be able to do what is needed to make 'The Last of Us' film a hit.
Beyond the production team, various actors have already been speculated to play the lead roles in the movie. Hugh Jackman and Josh Brolin fan favorites to play the part of Joel in the movie. Also, Maisie Williams, of 'Game of Thrones' fame is called upon for the role of Ellie.
Sami Raimi mentioned that the film will not water down any of the aspects that were seen in the videogame title, "It's gonna be a great character journey, a great love story, and great horror fiction."
On a side note, the idea of Bruce Campbell of the 'Evil Dead' TV series fame has potential to be part of the film.
Being that the movie has just been announced, there is no word as to when fans can expect to see the movie available in theaters.
