'The Last of Us 2' News Update, Rumors: Release Date To Be Announced During June's E3 Event

With the most awaited "Uncharted 4" set for release on May 10, many believe that Naughty Dog will be working next on the sequel of one of their masterpieces, "The Last of Us."

According to Inquisitr, there is a slight chance that the development of "The Last of Us 2" may be announced at the E3 event coming this June. There is still no confirmation about this so we'll keep you posted on the latest news about the development of the sequel.

Also, according to Games Radar, Naughty Dog's creative director Neil Druckmann said that there is already a timeline for the sequel.

"Before my partner, Bruce Straley and I, my directing partner, came on to Uncharted 4, we were working on prototypes for different ideas within 'The Last of Us universe.' All those things were left on hold when we had to come onto Uncharted 4 to direct the project. Our next focus is the single player Uncharted 4 DLC and then, once we have enough resources, resurrect all those prototypes; see where we're at, see where the teams at, what they're excited for and go from there," Druckmann said.

"Last Of Us" has won the game of the year award back in 2013. It also added its own influence to the "zombie apocalypse" genre with the creation of the "Clickers."

The Last of Us is an action-adventure zombie apocalyptic video game. The game is developed by Naughty Dog and published by Sony Computer Entertainment. It was released for the PlayStation 3 on June 14, 2013.
