'The Illusionist' Film CW Series - Storyline and Plot: New CW Network Series Based on Movie
CW Network, which has had success with its illusion and magic based shows, such as the 'Master of Illusion' and 'Penn & Teller: Fool us' has ordered for a small screen adaptation of the 2006 hit movie 'The Illusionist' starring Edward Norton and Jessica Biel.
On a side note, the movie went on to gross $87 million worldwide and won the Best Cinematography at the Academy.
The script for the TV series will be written by Mark Hudis of 'True Blood' fame and will be co-produced by CBS, Electus, and Yari Group.
The movie version portrays a magician, played by Edward Morton, casting his magic spells to win the love of a woman belonging to the upper crust of society played by Jessica Biel.
However the small screen version will have the central protagonist jailed for a crime he did not commit. Soon after his release he realizes that the crime boss who had framed him has also married his wife.
The magician then joins the crime boss's syndicate in disguise and slowly works his way up the ranks to win the trust of the crime boss. The series then focuses on how he overpowers the crime boss and wins his wife back. The series will be produced by Ben Silverman and Bob Yari.
On that note, the official cast of the series has yet to be finalized.
The TV series comes in the wake of popular movies being adapted for TV such as Tom Hank's 'Big', and Jennifer Lopez and Jane Fonda's 'Monster-in-Law'.
