The Hobbit 3 Movie Cast News: 'Battle of Five Armies' Star Aidan Turner Rescues Fan's Purse During Robbery (VIDEOS)
The Hobbit: Battle of Five Armies star Aidan Turner recently saved his fan from a burglar who stole her purse in Odessa, Ukraine.
"Fortunately I am not really as short as people who saw the film think I am. They (The Hobbit movie makers) achieved that special effect with millions of dollars of cinema trickery. ... It's great to be a real hero for a change rather than just an on-screen one. I think the rescue though was more like something from Indiana Jones than The Hobbit," said Turner according to a KOMO news report.
The 31-year-old Irish actor went to the European nation in order to attend the Odessa International Film Festival; which started on Friday, July 11 and will come to an end on Saturday, July 19.
The incident occurred when the star was talking to a supporter in front of a hotel, when the crook swiped the purse while he (the thief) was riding a bike.
As a result, Turner chased the culprit and tackled him to the ground (off the bike) and retrieved the stolen item.
Despite the fact the criminal got away, the woman was very happy when her hero returned her purse.
Turner is best known for his role as Kili in the extremely popular The Hobbit film trilogy, which is the prequel to the three-part blockbuster The Lord of the Rings films.
The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings movies are based on the books written by the late British Christian writer J. R. R. Tolkien (John Ronald Reuel Tolkien) in 1937 and 1954 respectively.
'The Hobbit: Battle of Five Armies' is expected to arrive in American movie theaters on December 17, 2014.
