'The Good Wife' Season 5 Spoilers: Finale Plot Features Life Changing Decision for Alicia Florrick [VIDEO]
Alicia Florrick faces a huge decision that will turn events for The Good Wife in Season 5. The Season 5 finale episode which airs on May 18 will end on a cliffhanger - but not a terribly bad one, according to Executive Producer Robert King. However, Julianna Marguiles' character will gain a more critical role in the next season.
Some fans are predicting that Florrick could be facing betrayal from Diane Lockhart, which in one way or another, affects mergers between Lockhart/Gardner and Florrick/Agos' law firms. With the alleged turn of events, it becomes highly likely that Diane is Louis Canning's pawn for a larger conspiracy.
"There's some tensions, I mean some sh-- went down when she was in bed for a couple of days after Will's death, and he sort of - there's some big fights about to happen that you'll see. I think Alicia realizes that she might have made a mistake. Let's just say that," Marguiles detailed in her interview with EOnline.
King said that Season 5 has a lot of cliffhangers all throughout but the final episode will not just be about leaving audiences thinking what happens next.
He said, "It's not a cliffhanger in that, 'Oh, which way is Alicia going to choose? It's more a cliffhanger in that, 'Oh now, what does that mean? That's an interesting decision.' It's a cliffhanger of a new chapter opening in Alicia's life."
There have also been deaths since Season 5's premiere in September 2013. Will Gardner's death created a huge void in Alicia's life earlier in the season.
Fans have also made it known that they would love a spin-off show with Carrie Preston's character Elsbeth Tascioni, but King says that The Good Wife can only support spin offs according to the flow of the story.
"It always comes down to where you can put your energy. Our worry is that-we're not the kind of show runners, unfortunately, who can take our eyes off this and do two things at once. I wish we could because there's no one more fun to work with and better comedian than Carrie Preston. There's such a cool show there," King explained.
