The Good Wife Season 5 Finale Spoilers, Cast Rumors: Alicia Florrick Returns to Lockhart-Gardner [VIDEO]
The Good Wife Season 5 wraps up tonight with Alicia Florrick returning to Lockhart-Gardner where she left this season to start her own law firm.
Executive Producers Robert and Michelle Kings have not made any official announcements on a Season 6 premiere date, but they promised that the final episode will open new doors for the show's future.
Protagonist Julianna Margulies returns to her former company only to receive unwelcoming remarks from her former colleagues. But nothing equals to Alicia's remorse about Will Gardner's death, her on-and-off love interest on the show.
Josh Charles, who played the role of Gardner, voluntarily rendered his exit when his contract ended in Season 4 but was persuaded by the Kings to stay for another 15 episodes.
Margulies commented that Gardner's death appeared to be the best decision because "it can be frustrating for an ensemble player when you're on a show that is mainly about one character."
On a positive note, the loss of one character will pave the way for a new beginning and new possibilities for Season 6 and beyond.
CBS is looking for an Emmy award for the show that rated 3.49 for audience ages 18 to 49 in the first quarter of 2014, TV By The Numbers reported.
The Good Wife has been a competitive Emmy nominee for the past two years in the drama series category. LA Times wrote that the series continuous to climb audience ratings with its 22 episodes so far going up against competitors like Mad Men and Games of Thrones.
According to Forbes, The Good Wife timeslot will be moved to Friday night beginning in Season 6 together with other shows like The Amazing Race, Madam Secretary, and 60 Minutes.
Watch The Good Wife Season 5 The Weird Year finale on May 18, 9 PM on CBS.
