'The Giver' Movie Review : Film Serves As a Catalyst To Build Character and Foster Courage in This Generation (VIDEO)

The Giver movie is set to hit theaters on August 15, and the adaptation of Lois Lowry's children's novel is gearing up to give moviegoers with a fulfilling experience.

The upcoming movie was directed by Phillip Noyce and is based on the successful 1993 novel of the same name and film stars Bridges, Streep, Brenton Thwaites, Katie Holmes, and Taylor Swift. Rush, plays Fiona, will be Jonas' love interest. Holmes and Alexander Skarsgard play the roles of Jonas' parents.

The films synopsis reads: "In a perfect world where there is no conflict, racism or sickness, every member of society has a specific role, and 16-year-old Jonas is selected to be the Receiver of Memory. As Jonas uncovers the truth behind his world's past, he discovers that many years earlier, his forefathers gave up humanity in order to have a stable society."

The films producers have openly said that the goal of the film is to "bridge the gap" from just ordinary literature used in elementary school canons, into something that stimulates the minds of all audiences.

According to MTV News, the new movie may be bigger than "Divergent" or even "Hunger Games," as "The Giver" is the real original dystopian young adult story.

BreatheCast caught an early screening of the film and the combination of Meryl Streep and Jeff Bridges, the beautiful cinematography, and acting from all of the characters was stellar. It is a must see. The film can certainly serve as a catalyst to build character and foster courage in this generation.
