The Following Season 3 Release Date: Will Ryan and Joe Survive Chaos in Tonight's Season 2 Finale? (TRAILER)
Before Fans can look ahead to the upcoming Season 3 of Fox hit drama, the Season 2 finale takes place on Monday with an unlikely alliance of two major foes. Things are sure to be left on a massive cliffhanger tonight, and fans will have to likely wait until January 2015 before Season 3 is released, according to initial estimates.
In tonight's episode "Forgive," ex-FBI agent Ryan Hardy (played by Kevin Bacon of "Footloose and "National Lampoon's Animal House" fame) joins forces with longtime nemesis, serial killer Joe Carroll (played by James Purefoy of "Rome" fame) to stop the evil twins Luke and Mark (Sam Underwood) from killing both men's love interest Claire Matthews (Natalie Zea).
"If all the other episodes are going up to 10, then this really goes up to 11. You just don't know what's going to happen, and the stakes are very, very high," said Purefoy to The Hollywood Reporter in reference to tonight's Season 2 Finale episode.
Fans are still in shock that Joe's evil disciple Emma Hill aka Denise Harris (Valorie Curry) was killed in last week's "Silence" episode. Curry spoke about her character's demise in a recent interview.
"I found out while we were in production on Episode 13, which was about two weeks before we shot it. It was Valentine's Day and Marcos [Siega], our executive producer, kindly waited two days after he found out because the 12th was my birthday... It was early in the morning, and I was in my dressing room before a big day of shooting. I get the knock on my door, and he's standing there, curled in on himself, looking very apologetic. I'm like, 'I know. It's fine.' I ended up comforting him for half a second. (Laughs) I was expecting it, honestly, at this point," said Curry to TVLine.
"I was really happy with what they wrote in the episode - especially that monologue about death and about it being silence and peace, because what I remember when I was reading that I was like, 'She wants to die. OK.' She had such a miserable time of it since Joe came back... I wanted her to have some peace."
"The Following" Season 2 Finale airs tonight at 9 p.m. on Fox. The Season 3 Premiere is expected to air in January 2015.
