‘The Blacklist’ Season 2 Spoilers, Plot Rumors: Paul Reubens Cast As Villain

Paul Reubens, best known for his role as Pee-Wee Herman, has been officially cast for the hit TV series, 'Blacklist', and reports claim that he is set to appear as a villain on the show. As it stands, Reubens will appear in at least two of the season's episodes.

According to Entertainment Weekly, he will play as Mr. Vargas, a "finicky" character who manages critical situations in the crime world, and will appear in Season 2 Episode 3.

"We're forgoing the bow tie and the bicycle, and it's going to be something totally different, and it's gonna be awesome," Executive Producer Jon Bokenkamp said, "It can't get strange enough for me. One of the most fun things is being able to write for actors who I've admired and think are interesting and try to play against expectations. I think this will be a fun one. I'd say he's gonna shake things up a bit when he enters Red's orbit."

Bokenkamp said that their idea started with a character introduction. They were throwing out possible names of who could fill in the spot, and Reubens' name was the one they thought would fit the villain part best.

"We knew what he would feel like and sound like, and then as we started kicking around names, Paul's name came up as, 'Well, that would be cool. That will never happen, but we might as well ask,'" the executive said.

Reports go on to say that Reubens has already starting filming with the show's production team since Friday, August 22.

Beyond that, other guest stars on the show include Lee Tergesen, Peter Stormare and Mary-Louise Parker.
