‘The Big Bang Theory’ Season 8 Release Date Delay: Contract Stand-Off, Cast Want $1 Million Per Episode?

Production on "The Big Bang Theory' Season 8 is on hold as stars Jim Parsons, Johnny Galecki, Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting, Simon Helberg and Kunal Nayyar are currently in the midst of negotiating their new contracts for the show.

"Due to ongoing contract negotiations, production on The Big Bang Theory"”which was originally scheduled to begin today"”has been postponed," Warner Bros. TV, which produces the show, said in a statement.

According to media reports, Galecki, Parsons, and Cuoco-Sweeting are negotiating individually, and a source told E! Online that the three leads are targeting "Friends' money. It can be recalled that "Friends' ended in 2004 with each of its six leads earning $1 million per episode. Meanwhile, Helberg and Nayyar are negotiating together.

As of the moment, only two members of the cast are presently under contract: co-stars Mayim Bialik and Melissa Rauch. It has been reported that both actresses negotiated their contracts last year.

CBS renewed the hit show for three more seasons, all the way to Season 10. Earlier in July, CBS executive Nina Tessler told reporters at the 2014 TCA Summer Press Tour that she was not worried about the contract standoff.

"We're feeling very confident that everything will work out. These deals manage to get done miraculously somehow year after year," said Tessler.

Chuck Lorre, creator of "The Big Bang Theory' echoed Tessler's sentiments and assured fans that everything will be fine. He also praised the cast and said that they deserved a raise.

"It will be fine. Warner Bros. has done this before. Everybody should be very successful and happy and rich. They earned it. It's a great cast. Great cast. It's their time," said Lorre in an interview with E! News.

"The Big Bang Theory' Season 8 will air on Sept. 22 at 8 pm.
