'The Bible' on History Channel: Episode 4 Recap (Part Two)

Episode 4 of The Bible, Mark Burnett and Roma Downey's epic new miniseries aired Sunday night at 8/7c on History Channel. While the first half of episode 4, "Mission" focused on the rise of Jesus and the miracles he performed from town to town. The second half of episode 4 of The Bible shows a different side of Jesus.

Near the beginning of part 2 Jesus rides into Jerusalem. The Pharisees have already heard rumors of the Messiah and know Jesus has been gaining followers. Under pressure from Rome, the Pharisees try to suppress Jesus so Passover will not be interrupted.

As Jesus approaches the temple, he's shocked and angered with how the House of God is being used as no more than a back alley trading post. Jesus' reaction made for one of the strongest scenes of The Bible series.

In 2013, thousands of years after the Bible was written, it's easy for one to think of Jesus as non-human. He's the Son of God so why should he have a sense of humor or have the ability to become angry. When Jesus starting flipping over merchant tables and yelling at the city's citizens, it really brought Jesus into a different light that I usually don't see him in. In other words, the flesh of Christ can be as compelling as the spirit.

The second half of part 2 features the 'Last Supper' and the first communion. Jesus confuses his disciples when he says this is the last meal they'll have together because one of them will betray him. Judas takes Caiphas' bribe leading the arrest of Jesus, his inevitable Crucifixion, and the dissolution of the 12 disciples.

Tune in next week at 8/7c for the Easter Sunday finale of "The Bible" on History Channel.
