"The Bible" Mini-Series on The History Channel Hopes to Reach Non-Christians

Producers of the hit 5 part mini-series "The Bible" Mark Burnett and Roma Downey have expressed many times since the pre-screenings how much passion and faith that they have had for making this film.  They have even shared feeling that the project was felt laid upon them from a higher power.

Roma recalls, "We really felt called to do this. [It] just kept tugging at our hearts," Downey explained, later adding, "We really felt God's hand there with us."

They both shared the thought that even though they went to great lengths to speak to different Christian leaders to help make and promote the film that they also hope to engage non-Christians and have them intrigued and walking away with a deep understanding of the the different stories of the Bible.

"If someone who never opened the Bible - and isn't going to - loves this, we've done it well," Burnett said.

This is what Dr. Rick Warren, pastor and author of The Purpose Driven Life had to say about the film on "The Bible" series website, "I've probably seen most, if not all, of the films about the Bible produced in the past 50 years. This one stands alone, in a class by itself, as the best I've ever seen. Brilliantly produced with stunning cinematography, a Hans Zimmer score and academy-worthy acting, it stands head-and-shoulder above the rest. Too many 'Bible' films end up feeling like documentaries, with stilted dialog, second-class sets, and narration that feels like a lecture. In contrast, this series, draws you into the story from the start. The key to its effectiveness is that it lets the Bible speak for itself, without commentary, excuse or qualification, which makes it unique. This is living history at its best!"
