"The Bible" Mini-Series on The History Channel Fills Void of Faith-Based Programming on TV

The ratings have spoken over the last four weeks that a well directed, well acted series of faith based TV can go over well with the American public.

American TV is basically void of any faith based programming on cable right now outside of the church services on Sunday and the few 24/7 Christian channels.  There is the reality show "Duck Dynasty" where their faith is on display with good clean episodes and they end each episode with prayer.

"The Bible" mini series didn't do much promotion on TV through commercials but really hit hard with church promotion and the use of popular pastors such as T.D. Jakes, Joel Osteen, and Rick Warren.

"The Bible" mini series was in instant hit after it's premiere episode aired on March 3rd and has held as the #1 rated cable show this year and became The History Channel's highest rated series ever.  Sometimes it seems that people forget how many Christians are in the U.S. and how well recieved a film and be if it is done with a professional and passionate way.  Many Christians are wary of the "cheesy" films that have been made over the years, so to have a movie take it's time with greating acting and great shooting is so important to break that mold.

"The Bible" mini series has done that with phenominal acting by Diogo Margado, playing Jesus, and the other actors including prodcuer Roma Downey (playing Mary, mother of Jesus).  As well, the CGI and authentic scene set ups have been suberbly done.

The critics have had their issues with certain things about the the series and people always will pick apart the accuracy of each scene and word, however overall I think Christians should be very pleased with the level of time and passion that the directors and producers (Mark Burnett and Roma Downey) have put into make this the most realistic and authentic film on the bible to date.

The web has been a buzz with social media over "The Bible" series with even celebrities like Oprah chiming in while watching.

"The Bible" mini series has been made wonderfully in my opinion and am so thankful that they have made this series, knowing that there would be critics no matter how well it was done.

Hopefully this will open the doors for more faith-based cable programming after people seeing the success of "The Bible" series on The History Channel.

Tune into The History Channel at 7pm CST to see the final episode of "The Bible" series this coming Easter Sunday (March 31st).

Are there any good faith based shows on cable right now that we need to check out?
