"The Bible" Mini-Series on History Channel: Review of Episode 4 "Mission"
"The Bible" series continued tonight on The History Channel. Episode 4, which aired tonight entitled, "Mission", was a full two hour episode focused on Jesus mission and life, show as He gathers his disciples and works miracles as people begin to discover who He is and why He is put on the earth.
A quick recap of the first hour of tonight's episode 4 would go as follows: Jesus is speaking in a small village when some people lift their paralyzed man through a roof to reach Jesus; Jesus heals the man of his paralzsis and starts the unrest with the pharisees; Jesus heals an "untouchable" lepor and makes him clean and healed; Jesus calls the tax collector (which are known as some of worst people in that day) to come and follow Him and be a disciple'; Jesus stopping the pharisees from stoning the prostitute woman by saying, "I will give my stone to the first who has not committed a sin" and everyone walks away. He tells her, "go and sin no more"; - Jesus feeds the crowd of 5,000 after blessing it "don't worry about daily needs. God will provide. Put God first and everything else will follow. Your hunger for righteousness will be filled through me"; The disciples see Jesus walking on water, they think it is a ghost. When He gets closer, they realize it is Jesus and He asks Peter to come and walk on water. Peter does and is able to walk on water; Lazarus gets raised to life by Jesus.
Here is a recap of the second hour of tonight's episode. Jesus enters Jerusalem riding on a donkey-a declaration that he is the Messiah; Jesus flips tables in the temple and scolds the money-changers for selling in the Temple; Caiphas bribes Judas into betraying Jesus; Jesus confuses the disciples at the Last Supper leading them in communion and telling them this would be His last meal with them; Jesus is arrested and the disciples scatter scared; Jesus is condemned to death'"
After seeing Diogo Morgado as Jesus for a full two hour episode now, he seems to have captured that essense of humility and strength about as well as you can.The way he speaks to the crowds with peace and confidence really hits home to the way Jesus would have spoke to his disciples and crowds of people. When he looks into peoples eyes and the way he physically interacts with people whether disciples or sick strangers, he comes across with such a love and care for whoever he comes into contact with.
