'The Bible' on History Channel: Episode 3 Preview
Episode 3 of The Bible, airs Sunday night at 8/7c on History Channel.
This episode finally features the Son of God, Jesus. "Hope/Survival" fast-forwards to future stories from the Bible. The Jews are once again slaves, this time to the Babylonians. Instead of David, Daniel is the new champion of God's people. The lion's den parable teaches us how, even when feeling our lives are being threatened, we still need to have faith in God. Also featured in episode 3 of The Bible is the angel Gabriel who comes to Earth to tell Mary that she will have a child (yes, that's pretty much what angels do; tell barren, earthly women, they're about to get pregnant).
Joseph and Mary are forced to travel back to Jerusalem for census. Jesus is born.
In response to King Herod's "killing every male baby" law, Joseph, Mary, and now Jesus flee to a neighboring town.
Essentially, the rest of the episode skips ahead to Pontius Pilate rising to prominence in Judea and John baptizing Jesus. After his baptism, Jesus' story becomes the central focus of The Bible, most likely until it's Easter Sunday finale.
The Bible, History Channel's epic new docudrama premiered Sunday, March 3rd.
The 5 part, 10-hour miniseries earned some industry leading ratings on its debut. Though The Bible ratings softened in week 2, married producers Mark Burnett (Survivor) and Roma Downey (Touched By An Angel) are expecting a huge bump for episode 3, with the introduction of Jesus.
Tune into episode 3, "Hope/Survival" of The Bible, cable TV's highest rated show, on History Channel at 8/7c.
