‘The Amazing Spider-Man 3’ Cast News, Rumors: Alleged Casting Call from Sony Appears Online
Sony Pictures Entertainment has been keeping quiet on the future of 'The Amazing Spider-Man' franchise, but reports have started circulating that a third film is in the works after a casting call from Bill Beckman Casting appeared online.
Last year's 'The Amazing Spider-Man 2' did not do as well as Sony expected, leaving the franchise hanging. It has gotten to the point that rumors started popping up that Marvel Studios is planning to take over the character or that Andrew Garfield is being replaced as the web-slinging hero. However, if a recent casting call turns out to be authentic, Sony may be considering moving ahead with the third film.
The alleged casting call that appeared via Bill Beckman Casting claims that Sony is looking for male and female extras, of all races and ethnicities from the ages of 18 to 65 to appear in 'The Amazing Spider-man 3'.
The casting call also revealed more details about the alleged third film, such as the film's shooting location in Atlanta, stars Garfield and Dane DeHaan, and a teaser plotline for a 2016 release that said, "Peter Parker/Spider-Man faces a new challenge to protect New York City."
Sony has been busy focusing on Spider-Man spinoffs though, after the second Spider-man film's underwhelming performance. Reports have it that a 'Venom' film, an all-female project titled 'Glass Ceiling' and a 'Sinister Six' spinoff are in the works.
It opens up the possibility that the casting company may have actually mislabeled the project, especially as 'Sinister Six' is slated for a 2016 release. It is also possible that Sony purposely named the 'Sinister Six' production under the third Spidey film to throw off speculation.
While some fans may have gotten their hopes up due to the casting call, speculations have it that the casting call may very well be a fake, especially as Sony has yet to confirm or deny the report.
