Pro-Life Bill Passes in Texas; Women who have had abortions speak out

In a huge win for Pro-Life advocates, a bill putting new restrictions on abortion, was passed in Texas last week. In effect, the bill banns pregnancy terminations after 20 weeks and also requires abortion doctors to have admitting privileges at nearby hospitals, and requires that all abortions take place in surgical centers. Once put into motion, this bill could mean the shutdown of several abortion facilities in Texas, including the largest Planned Parenthood in the nation, located in Houston.

"We celebrate this victory and ask for your continued prayers for this bill...Pray with us that our pro-life Senators will stay strong in the face of opposition and that Governor Perry would continue his strong stance for Life. Pray with us for the state of Texas, that it would be a forerunner in the United States and that others would follow quickly afterward. " LaSondra Spears, a pro-life Activist through Bound-4-Life, said.

As the argument on abortion continues, many women who have had abortions are beginning to speak on the issue.

Shaelah Walker, of Daphne Alabama, said, "I'm actually expecting now. I got to hear my baby's heart beat at 8 weeks, At 15 weeks everything is developed...20 weeks is murder!!! When I had my abortion they left out all of those details."

Democrats, the minority in Texas, are outraged by the decision and many vow to fight for its overturn.

"There will be a lawsuit. I promise you," Dallas Sen. Royce West said on the Senate floor after the decision was made.

Walker continued, "Yes, I could have researched it myself, but I was so overwhelmed that I didn't. I went in kind of wanting the doctor to talk me out of it, but he didn't. He made me feel like abortion was the way to go. That was the most hurtful part. After it was done, there was no going back. I think about it everyday. Every single day I wonder how things could have been different. You can never escape that. I have to pray about it constantly. It led me into one of the darkest moments of my life. It's very lonely and very depressing. When I get the opportunity I always encourage adoption if it better for the baby. Knowing you ended a baby's life without knowing what the future holds is a scary road."
