'Tekken 7' PS4, Xbox One, PC Release Date: Upcoming Title Coming Late 2015
Although this year happens to be the 20th anniversary of the 'Tekken' game franchise, fans will have to wait quite a while before the upcoming title, 'Tekken 7' is released. In fact, Bandai Namco Games has declared that they will launch the game for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC sometime at the end of 2015.
'Tekken 7' will be developed Unreal Engine 4 of Epic Games. While the last installment of the franchise, 'Tekken 6', was released in 2007, Bandai Namco Games have said that it is excited about working with Epic Games for 'Tekken 7'.
Katsushiro Harada, the executive producer and game director for Tekken series, recently said, "The power and flexibility means that we can focus our efforts on making Tekken 7 the best possible game without worrying about spending time creating a stand-alone graphic engine."
Meanwhile, Tekken fans are excited to learn about the future of their favorite characters in the game. Referring to the fans' excitement, Harada said that 'Tekken 7' will have a very comprehensive backstory and will give an exciting conclusion to the Mishima family saga. Harada also disclosed that the new title will have more one-on-one fights compared to the earlier installments of the game.
Harada said, "We're still formulating the basic gameplay systems and polishing them."
Meanwhile, issuing a press release, Epic Games Japan studio head Taka Kawasaki recently discussed excitement for 'Tekken 7'. He said that the partnership between Bandai Namco and Epic Games is perfect for the next game because it will lead to great results. Also, he personally confirmed that the new game will have a PC version release.
In an interview, Taka Kawasaki said that 'Tekken 7' would come with greatly improved visuals which can only be done on the PS4, Xbox One and PC. He even singled out the PC version because that was the lead platform during development.
It is worth mentioning here that Tekken, or "Iron Fist" in Japanese, is a fighting game franchise, first developed in 1994. Since the release of the first Tekken game, it has since grown to include sequels, spin-off games, in addition to being adapted into movies.
Tekken is about the story of the King of the Iron Fist Tournament that is hosted by the Mishima Zaibatsu Corporation. Winners of this tournament take control of the corporation and the right to host the next round of games.
