‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ Release Date, Cast Rumors: Synopsis Gives Details, Official Trailer Released [VIDEO]
Fans of the 90's hit animated show, "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' are thrilled with the way that Paramount Pictures chose to reintroduce the characters to a new generation of fans with its highly anticipated movie, directed by Jonathan Liebesman and produced by Michael Bay (Transformers franchise).
Here is the official synopsis of the film:
"The city needs heroes. Darkness has settled over New York City as Shredder and his evil Foot Clan have an iron grip on everything from the police to the politicians. The future is grim until four unlikely outcast brothers rise from the sewers and discover their destiny as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The Turtles must work with fearless reporter April and her wisecracking cameraman Vern Fenwick to save the city and unravel Shredder's diabolical plan."
It can be recalled how the first "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' movie adaptation back in 2007 earned only $95.6 million on worldwide figures. However, this year's reboot is expected to be a bigger hit than the last movie as the concept is similar, except for more advanced technology used on this film.
The cast of TMNT includes Johnny Knoxville, William Fichtner, Alan Ritchson, Will Arnett, Noel Fisher, Whoopi Goldberg, Tony Shalhoub, Jeremy Howard, and Megan Fox. Many were surprised to hear that Fox was cast as April O'Neil after the actress had a falling out with Michael Bay over "Transformers: Dark of the Moon' promotions wherein the actress publicly criticized Bay's strict and very meticulous style of directing in unflaterring terms. The initial reaction from fans regarding this casting decision varied from confused, to angry, to indifferent. However, Fox knows that it comes with the territory of appearing in a reboot of such a beloved property.
The "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' movie is set to premiere in theaters on August 8, 2014.
