A 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' sequel is rumored to be released on June 3, 2016. Michael Bay and Co. appear to have wasted no time in reviving the '90s series back into the mainstream pop-culture.

'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' currently in theaters was released August 8, made over $60 million in its first weekend.

As to where the Turtles will be headed on their next adventure, the director of the movie reportedly hinted that it may as well take them to Dimension X. This represents a world where one can find the origins of the mutant ooze that transformed the Ninja Turtles into what they are.

Many speculate that if the next installment takes place in Dimension X, there will be many new types of mutants seen battling the Turtles. However, there is no official statement as to what the plot of TMNT 2 will be.

What is known for sure, is that the screenplay writers of the current film will be returning to write the sequel. In terms of its director, Jonathan Liebsman has not confirmed whether or not he will be directing the forthcoming installment.

Also, fans will have to wait and see if April O'Neale, the well-known reporter, will make a comeback to the sequel, as that has not been confirmed. Even so, Megan Fox who gave life to the character said that she would definitely return as April in TMNT 2 if the producers asked her to.
