Teacher Buys 9th Grader '50 Shades of Grey' Book, Mom Demands Teacher Be Fired (VIDEO)
Teacher, Philip Aidoo, from a charter school in Philadelphia got a huge wave of criticism lately and his students parents ask for his firing.
So what did this teacher do? He bought one of his ninth grade students the erotic and explicit novel '50 Shades of Grey'.
Aidoo claims that he was unaware of the content of the book but the teens mother does not believe him and is asking for him to be fired.
The Philadelphia teacher has said that their students made "wish lists" and that he made online purchases for numerous novels as gifts.
When mother, Maya Ladson, found her son with the book she responded, "This is not okay to me. This is major" and has filed a formal complaint with officials at Officials at Eastern University Academy Charter School.
The mother has said, "It clearly states on the cover that the book is for mature audiences and has high sexual content. This was a 100-percent act of negligence. There should never be pornographic material purchased and distributed to a student by a school teacher."
The school officials have apologized for the incident and described it simply as an "unfortunate mistake." Even with the pushing of the students mother, that was not enough for Aidoo to be fired.
The school's chief operation officer, Yvonne Turner, has said, "Unfortunately, Mr. Aidoo did not have an awareness of this popular book and ordered it with his own money."
The book is currently in the works for an upcoming movie adaptation while buzz is spreading on who the cast will be made up of.
This video below is a previous interview with EL James, the author of 50 Shades of Grey. She herself has two teenage boys and said she would be mortified if they read the books, so it is safe to say that James would have been against the ninth grader receiving the book as well.
Do you think the teacher should have been fired?
