TBS's The Pete Holmes Show Premiere Review: Will Pete Holmes Be Able to Liven Up Late Night TV? [TRAILER] [LIVE ONLINE STREAM]

The debut episode of The Pete Holmes Show airs tonight on TBS in an attempt to grab the young male demographic that is not being catered to as much with hosts like Jay Leno and David Letterman. Pete Holmes has been a successful comedian for a while now, and finally landed himself a late night host spot on TBS.

Holmes himself said, "I think just by being honest and true to myself, we are going to skew younger. I'm just trying to make the things that make me laugh, which - I don't know what that says about me and my maturity - happens to be the same things that young people might enjoy."

One of the deciding factors of how well a late night show does in the ratings department is determined by opening monologue. Conan O'Brien always captures the audience and defines himself and his humor very well in his monologue at the beginning of each show.

TBS President Michael Wright said he wants to, "Give people what they want, but also give your audience what they don't know they want yet. It's a way to expand the brand, evolve, and grow."

Holmes told SplitSider.com what he wanted his opening monologue to be like. He said, "And when it comes to like the monologue, I'd like it to be a little less setup-punch and a little more maybe - and this is all speculation by the way, I don't even know what we're gonna end up doing - but I would like it to be a little closer to my voice as a standup, which is a little bit sillier."
