'The Giver' which will hit the big screens on August 15, 2014 featuring big stars like Jeff Bridges, Meryl Streep, Alexander Skarsgård, Brenton Thwaites and Katie Holmes is expected to be the next "Hunger Games" or "Divergent" which are both highly rated films. Much excitement swarms this particular film due to the casting of one of the biggest music stars this generation, Taylor Swift.

It has been 10 years since Lois Lowry's novel 'The Giver' was rumored to be translated into a moving pictures. Only recently has this been confirmed, "I will say from my point of view it involved a whole lot of waiting! So I didn't really know if it would come to be or not." Lowry told MTV News.

The long wait is over and the film have been given an extra youthful flavor in casting singer songwriter Taylor Swift. The country singer will play the role of Rosemary in the film. Although it is reported to be a small role, it is nevertheless significant.

"The role in the movie is still a small role, but it's a crucial and very important one...I don't think because of Taylor Swift particularly, but because the elements of that particular scene he found very gripping. So her role in the movie is much the same in the book, except in the book she's only remembered... And in the movie you can see the memory of her. She appears in, I don't know the technical term would be, but you can see her. And it's very compelling." Lowry told MTV News.

A small but significant role is good enough for Swift's fans to come and see the movie, although it has been reported that Swift will not be singing in the film. According to Lowry, the film will turn into a musical if that would be the case and it's not.

According to reports, the film takes place in a dystopian society similar to one found in 'The Hunger Games' and 'Divergent'. Everything seems perfect, but as the film progress, it becomes evident that the people would have to sacrifice their humanity for stability. Taylor's contribution to what seems to be an incredible film is not only the PR she brings, but the strong connection she has with her character and The Giver who is played by Jeff Bridges.
